UPDATE: Challenge completed!
I managed to complete this challenge yesterday in 8 hours, 18minutes and 55seconds and trust me the distances alone do not show how tough this was! There were a few points where I was really struggling but everyones support (and the knowledge of the abuse I’d get for not completing!) spurred me on.
Thanks again and please keep donating until I reach my new target!
Firstly thank you for visiting my page.
On the 11th of September I will be taking on Nessie’s hunting ground. What does this involve you may ask, well after entering the Monster Challenge last year – a 4 man team duathlon around the shores of Loch Ness I wanted to undertake something harder, something more demanding, something stupid?! So, what better challenge than completing the team duathlon from last year myself, known as the Iron Monster Challenge. This will involve a 40km run followed by an 80km cycle around the shores (and hills!) of Loch Ness. When I told one of my mates about the Iron Monster challenge his reply was short, and probably exactly what many others are thinking - ‘People who do challenges like that are not quite right in the head.’ Well this may be so but never the less I will be giving it a go and looking for a time of about 8 hours 30minutes. To give you some idea of what this time will involve: last year’s average time for the 24 people - yes only 24 - who took on the Iron Monster Challenge was 9 hours 32 minutes and 50 seconds, and my teams time was 7 hours 44 minutes and 43 seconds. I would be most grateful if you could support me in completing the Iron Monster Challenge. I am requesting that you donate anything that you can to help the wonderful people at Cancer Research , so they can continue their ongoing fight in finding a cure for cancer. It is a sad fact that 1 in 3 of us will at some point in our lives be diagnosed with some form of cancer. With statistics like this it is not surprising that everyone is touched by this awful disease whether from being diagnosed themselves or through the diagnosis of a family member, friend or work colleague. Please please please donate generously to this wonderful cause. Many thanks, DaveDonating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
