This is my first GNR. It is dedicated to the memory of my late father also called Derek.  He was a truck driver, work long hours. My memories of him as a child were of him finishing a long shift, getting a wash and some food, filling up his flask and going out to work again.  When at home, he was the life and soul of the party.

My father had his first stroke whilst driving his truck but fortunately he survived and no one was hurt.  He recovered and went back to work.  Soon after, he suffered more strokes and eventually ended up paralysised and unable to speak.  My father was to spend the next 12 years bed ridden on a hospital bed installed in our front room.  My wonderful father, Derek Dodds passed away on 17th December 2003 after contracting pneumonia.

Not a day goes by when I dont think about him!  Please give to a tremendous cause!!
