Imagine having to paddle for miles on end with the freezing wind blasting you from all corners and potentially lethal currents threatening to pull you under; with only your crew partner for company as you paddle through the night; and holding on to the hope that you will cross the finish line where others have tried and failed (including Sir Steve Redgrave and several other Olympians!). Well that’s exactly what we are aiming to do!
The Devizes to Westminster 2013 International Canoe Marathon takes place over the Easter weekend of 29 March to 1 April 2013. It is a grueling 125 miles long and has 77 locks, requiring portages where the canoe is picked up and run with, in some cases for as long as a mile. The race is a severe test of skill and stamina, and is the longest non-stop canoe race in the world.
Team Capital City has decided to take on this challenging ordeal to raise funds for the vital work of Research Autism and we are asking for your help.
