Story
HALF MARATHON (13.1 miles) & FULL MARATHON (26.2 miles) IN TWO DAYS!
Hello all... Here is the story of this event...
I was looking for a challenge with which to start 2010, that befitted the tenacity and commitment of the injured soldiers for whom I would run. When I heard about the Disney Marathon Weekend and then about the "Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge" I was hooked... Within 48 hours of hearing of the event I had booked and paid for my own flights, arranged to take time off work and ensured I had a roof over my head for the build up week.
With the Disney two-day race format, you run the Walt Disney World Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday (9th Jan) and then the Walt Disney World Marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday (10th Jan). For those who take on and finish Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge, there is a special Goofy Medal - and it is always about the medals!
I decided to raise funds for Help for Heroes for several reasons - not least because I continue to hear about people I know getting wounded or very seriously injured in the line of duty. For more information and many more ways to help please visit:
