Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Alayne and I decided in March last year that we wanted to do something a bit different in memory of our Mother (Ross Barton) who died of cancer in August 2011.
We wanted to do something that would take us well out of our comfortable everyday lives and test and challenge us to the extreme. Dog Sledding seemed a good choice!
On 10th March 2013 we shall be heading to Alta in the Finnmark region of Norway where we shall commence a 230km(140miles) dog sled trek across the Arctic Circle. We'll be staying in basic lodges with lovely long drop toilets and roughing it for 7 days. That should just about cover the 'challenging us to our extremes'!!
We are funding the trip ourselves but wanted to try and raise a bit of money for Bethesda, where Mum spend her last few days being well looked after. Until you need a hospice it is hard to understand the amazing job they do supporting and caring for their patients and their families. Every penny that is donated will go directly to helping Bethesda carry on caring.
We know times are hard and everyone is always asking for money but it would be nice if we could pay back some of the amazing work that Bethesda did for us during that time. So please dig deep and donate now.
I hope we might inspire others to do something a bit different too!
Thanks, Alayne and Hilary x
