Fundraising for Life After Loss
Story
I am taking part in the Bupa Great South Run, the 10 mile run is held on the 24th October 2010 in Portsmouth . To say that this is a challenge is an understatement.
I am raising money for a charity called Life After Loss, below is a little bit about the charity
Life After Loss is an online support community set up in November 2006 by bereaved mothers who found support and friendship through sharing their grief over the loss of a baby.
Life After Loss is for anyone who is affected by the loss of a baby, at any stage of pregnancy or after birth. This kind of loss is simply devastating, and often misunderstood by those who have not been through it themselves.
Angel babies have had a huge impact on our lives. They cannot be replaced, we can never forget them, and we can never accept that 'it was not meant to be'. It is often hard to look positively towards the future after the loss of a precious child.
The focus of this site, as its name suggests, is to help people to 'pick up the pieces' and somehow continue with life. At times this is not easy, but with each other as support we aim to show that it is possible to go on. Life will never be the same again, but it can be bearable, and with time we can learn to live again and even smile again.
This site is dedicated to all our little angels, sleeping peacefully in heaven. The charity is very close to my family. My cousin Nicola gave birth to her first daughter Ella, Ella was born sleeping at 8 months, she is a beautiful Angel. Without the never ending support from life after Loss Nicola wouldn't have met such wonderful, supportive, and encouraging people to help her through such a painful time. In return, she was able to offer the same, a shoulder to cry on, someone to vent their anger at, to question 'why my baby', and to find special ways to remember their angel's. Life after loss is a community where people are readily available to offer their support through their own loss. Because of the support from the other angel mummy's and daddy's met through Life Atfer Loss Nicola is able to cherish her precious angel and hold her proudly in her heart.
