Story
Thank you for coming to my page, where i am fundraising for MCS, The Marine Conservation Society.
Note for Overseas Donations
Overseas donations are accepted, however they will be converted in to Sterling (£), which means you could be donating less/more than you think. Visit http://www.xe.com/ucc/ to find out how much your donation would be worth. Credit/debit card charges may also apply, it is best to check to make sure, i would not want to skint you for donating to a good cause! Last but by no means least, according to Just givings FAQ sections, American Express is currently not accepted, sorry!
About me?
First of all, i have always loved marine life ever since being little. I am also planning on taking an honours degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology at the University of Plymouth. Until then though, i want to do
as much as i possibly can for the environment, for conservation, and for
the marine world.
What
else am i doing to raise money for MSC or other charities?
I am currently volunteering for conservation society's such as BTCV and i intend to visit The Deep in Hull to collect for
MSC. I am also going to be collecting in my local town centre
(Doncaster).
Some facts?
Did you know
that less than 1% of seas around the UK are fully protected?
Did you know that there may be over 10 million species still unidentified in our oceans?
Did you also know that these species could offer pharmaceutical compounds, which could provide us with cures in the future for diseases such as HIV or Cancer?
MCS's explains their reasons for marine conservation
"Our oceans support an estimated ten million species, only three percent of which have been identified. But our rich ocean wildife is being depleted, disappearing before we have even had the chance to learn about it. We are losing biodiversity at a rate never witnessed before, at huge cost to ourselves, and leaving a degraded environment that leaves wildlife vulnerable in the face of change.
If our oceans are to cope with what the future will throw at them, we need to act now. We need to halt the loss of biodiversity and take care of the fabric of life in our seas. We are all connected to the sea in ways we may not realise, and the health of our seas is key to a rich and productive future."
Conclusion
i am trying to do as much as i can to help the environment. Do your bit by donating to my page for MSC and help protect the seas around the UK.
Thank you
