Story
If you have made it to this webpage well done!
Some of you will know I am a doctor training to specialise in elderly care and stroke medicine. I have worked and lived in brighton for nearly 6 years. Much of the time has been spent training on elderly care and stroke wards.
It is frustrating how little priority is given to elderly care. Many people feel as I do that older people are not given enough priority when it comes to health spending. The older generation are not respected or valued as they should be.
I have worked very closely with all staff on elderly care wards including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, doctors and other allied professionals. I have always been so impressed how dedicated and caring they are but they are often under resourced and work in challenging conditions.
Items such as a standing hoist (£4000), foot stools for leg swelling (£40,) clocks to orientate confused patients (£30), Otoscopes and auroscopes to diagnose hearing and eye problems (£100), are vital to aid recovery but often rely on charity donation.
I will be running the Brighton Marathon on April 18th. This the 1st ever Brighton Marathon and my 1st Marathon also. My estimated running time will be 4:00- 4:10.
I aim to raise £3000 for the elderly care wards at the Royal Sussex County Hospital In Brighton to help towards buying these items. We would be so grateful for your donation. Money will go directly to the Ward Managers and used only for this purpose.
THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES
Philip
