Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In January 2009, I met a lady called Lisa Warner, at a Like Minded Women business networking meeting. She was the guest speaker that night and something about her enthusiasm for life really inspired me. At the time I was slightly unfocused on what I wanted with my business and life in general, and Lisa gave me a piece of advice that I will probably remember for the rest of my life.

She said "Do something crazy everyday! Doesn't matter how big or small just do something crazy!"

I left the meeting with a real sense of excitement and drive but I was unsure where to go with it. Later on in the year my friend and work associate, Leanne Flower who runs the Like minded women network, told me that she was organise a charity trek across the to raise money for a charity called CLIC Sargent. At the time I hadn't really heard of them or of their work but I have always felt that it's good to support both your friends and in general charities. When I researched a little deeper into the work of CLIC Sargent I found the stories and the people very touching and I decided to take the plunge and I signed up for the trek (this I will call crazy step 1).

Crazy step 2 probably started when I decided I’d also like to raise funds for another charity. I’ve been Diabetic since the age of 3 and over the years I’ve had many ups and downs and I finally feel with help of the Diabetes Nurses at Milton Keynes General, that I have really got my blood sugars under control. It was very hard growing up with diabetes, spending days in bed because, I’d become hypoglycaemic in the night. Or collapsing and breaking my arm the first time I got drunk, because I didn’t know that alcohol affected my blood sugars. I’ve always tried my hardest to not, let it get me down, although it’s some times hard. So to help other people and to say thanks for all the support, that I’ve had over the years. I’ve also chosen to raise money for Diabetes .

I’m looking to raise, just over £2000 for each charity, so I will be probably doing many crazy things to get the money. But I hope you will feel that they are two very important charities and that you will give generously, to support them but also to support me.

Thanks

Babs
