The Event
7 brave staff from (Dunbia Preston) are taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challange on the 7th May 2011. Walking over 24 miles, over the 3 Yorkshire Peaks.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk is a very demanding but rewarding walk, which takes in the summits of Pen-y-ghent (694 metres - 2,276 feet), Whernside (736 metres - 2,415 feet) and Ingleborough (723 metres 2,372 feet) all in one circular route.
The walk is 24.5 miles (39.2km) long and takes in over 5,000 feet (1,600 metres) of climbing.
Derian House
Derian House is a purpose built children’s hospice with nine beds for children and young people up to the age of 18 years, and a newly completed four bed extension, Derian Lodge, which is for young adults aged 16 – 25.
At Derian House they offer professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family. Whether in the hospice through short planned stays, or in the family home with the backing and encouragement of our Hospice at Home Team, the support they provide is driven entirely by the family’s needs and wishes.
Derian House are currently supporting more than 250 families of children with a life limiting illness, and a further 200 families who are receiving bereavement support. For them, Derian House is a lifeline in helping them cope with the highs and lows of their child’s illness, and its aftermath.
