Story
Disabled people in the Gambia have nothing and the community believes they can do nothing. They are unable to get a good education or job and have to resort to begging to survive. By building a garden for the disabled group in rural Gambia, we will give people with disabilities there the chance to feed themselves, learn new skills, gain an income and prove to the community that disability does not mean inability.
So here’s the deal, you donate the price of a couple of pints of beer to help set up the garden and I will, starting on 25 November 2011, attempt to cycle across a small African country. In 40 degrees heat. With 80% humidity. On a ‘bumper’ bike. I’ll be cycling from my up-country base, Basse and roasting for 4 days until I reach the coast 370km away. At which point I will probably have a little lie down.
Basic Foundations have for more information about the garden.
If you are in the Gambia why meet me for a celebratory drink when I finish.
My target is £1 for each kilometer I cycle. Visit my blog to find out where your donation gets me to.
