Story

Now I know these type of pages and pledges are being sent thick and fast at this time of year but I really would appreciate if you would spend a couple of minutes of your time and read this page.

For those of you that have seen me or spoken to me recently, will no doubt have heard me rabbitting on about this years Marathon. That's right I have entered myself into this years London Marathon. For the past few months I have been running around London and Gloucester, getting lost, getting cold, getting injured all in preparation for this epic 26 mile race around London. And all for what?

I have always been strangely intrigued by the London Marathon, whether its been watching on TV as a kid, or watching it hungover from my bedroom window in Greenwich. The race day atmosphere in and around London is electric and I have always wanted to be part of the event. But not only is it a tremendous sporting event, it is a fantastic chance to raise money for much needed charities.

Now for the Charity bit....

Having been lucky enough to get a place in the ballot for this years race, I had a complete choice of charities to raise money for. So, I thought I'd choose one that is close to my heart. My sister suffers from an eye condition called glaucoma. Glaucoma is essentially a build up of pressure on the optic nerve within the eye and left untreated will lead to permanant loss of sight and in severe cases blindness. Unfortuantely there is yet no real cure for the condition. The International Glaucoma Association (IGA) works hard on patient treatment, raising awareness and helps to fund clinical research to help eliminate the effects of glaucoma. It isn't an extremely well known charity so any money whatsoever will be greatly appreciated.

Please please please dip into your pockets and pledge some money to a very worthy cause.

If any of you feel you want to come and watch me hobbling around London with my skinny legs, then please feel free to do so. It would be lovely to see some fimiliar faces in the crowd.

Lots of love to all.

p.s its now Friday night, I've drank soft drinks all night and frankly cant wait for the event to be over so I can sit down with some of you kind people and enjoy a swift pint or two.
