Sun 2nd May: Well done team!!!! Thanks to everyone who has contributed...we've smashed our target! Bring on the next event...
2 sleeps left. Wow...what a response! Thanks, folks...your generosity will go a long way to helping youth on the streets in Central America...not to mention inspiring fabulous people here to get around the hilly 10km in Edinburgh this Sunday.
Only 6 more sleeps!! Training run on Wed night 1900 at pavilion on meadows...bit of camaraderie and fun. We will all start the race together as a team in the 'white' area...nobody's time will be affected as done by chip on shoe. Good stuff!!
Fri 16th April: My lovely mad partner, Jessie, is joining our team...sort of! Instead of running she is shaving her head the day before the run.
Tue 6th April: I'm very happy to announce that our team has been bolstered by some of the energetic and fantastic staff from Chiquito! Welcome folks. Hope your training is on target. We will be having a team run one week prior to the event...meet on the grass near the gate into the tennis courts in the Meadows at 8am Sun 25th April.
31st Mar 2010: Less than 5 weeks to go now! Last week was busy with Nicaraguan street children from Casa's programmes visiting Edinburgh straight from their successful football exploits at the Street Child World Cup in South Africa. We went out to key Casa Alianza sponsors www.chiquito.co.uk/ for dinner and finished the week with the amazing quiz on Saturday night. Thanks to all who attended...happy training! :)
We are running for Casa Alianza UK because children should not have to live on the street. Casa works in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua providing emergency care, food, shelter, and hope for a better future. Casa helps children believe in themselves when nobody else cares that they even exist! £10 would help replenish first aid supplies for outreach work on the streets. £20 would feed 10 children for a day in residential care. £30 would buy bedding and emergency supplies for our crisis centres. Please join us in Edinburgh on Sun 2nd May to support or run in the team yourself...the more the merrier.
Gracias!!
Sun 14th March:
Things are gathering pace and people are training hard. Tomorrow is the start of the Street Child World Cup in Durban. Casa Alianza Nicaragua, with the help of BMS World Mission, has sent a team of 9 young people to compete. They will also be visiting Edinburgh and London on their return leg to Nicaragua between 24-27th March. This is an exciting and unique opportunity.
