We make dreams come true to bring joy to seriously ill children

Story

Hello hello. This summer I will be taking part in my 4th UK Forum Allstars Charity Weekend, and following tradition, I’m fundraising and representing a new team this year, Dreams Come True.

Dreams Come True is a UK based charity, that aims to make Dreams Come True for children, teenagers and young adults, with serious and life limiting conditions, ranging from the age of 2 to 21 years old.

In 25 years, DCT has fulfilled dreams for more than 5000 children and young people, and not only that, but also for their friends, families and carers. To put this into perspective, that’s an average of 200 dreams fulfilled per year, or 17 dreams per month, or 4 dreams a week, 1 dream, every 43 hours. By the time the Allstars arrive in Cardiff in July, nearly 100 dreams will have been fulfilled, from now.

Dreams are unique. Some want to meet their idol; maybe a sports personality, an actor, musician, or their favourite Disney character. Others want to visit family abroad, swim with dolphins, or have a party with their friends. For others, it may be something that you and I take for granted, such as going for a bike ride, going for a swing in the park, or playing the xbox. DCT is able to provide sensory equipment and technology, adapted wheelchair swings and, disability trikes and bikes to make this happen.

Children and young people living with these serious medical conditions often have to deal with countless hospital visits, painful treatments and procedures, and the prospect of living with a long term debilitating disease. By donating, you’re helping DCT’s aim in fulfilling a dream, to provide positive focus, giving both individuals and their families new enthusiasm and strength to deal with on-going daily struggles of their illness, hospital treatments and sometimes, sad loss.

DCT’s experienced team work hard to ensure that every child has an unforgettable experience fulfilling their dream, and creating amazing long lasting memories for families and friends.

DCT’s mission statement is simple: ‘to enable children and young people with serious and life-limiting conditions to fulfil their personal dreams’.

This year, there are 8 members of Team NI taking part in the UK Forum Allstars, and 5 of us are fundraising for Dreams Come True. We want to raise as much money as possible and help DCT continue their work throughout the UK. Every penny you donate will go towards helping someone’s Dream Come True in the future, and for that, we can’t thank you enough for your support.

So, thank you for taking the time to read this. Raising money while playing a sport you love is a pretty sweet gig, and I can’t thank you all enough for your donations over the past 4 years, it’s truly appreciated.

Hopefully Team DCT can bring back some Silverware this year, as well as raising a great sum of money.

Thanks again,
Aaron #64
