Story
Over the summer – Caroline and myself –both had reason to visit the Breast unit in the hospital. We know we are very lucky and fortunate – both of us showed nothing cancerous, but we both were treated effectively and according to our specific individual lumps.
We found on every occasion and interaction with the Breast Cancer unit staff so professional and friendly. The staff made the whole process as patient focussed as they could, considering the difficult challenges the facilities presents both to staff and its patients. We are so grateful of the care the team provided not just to us but to all that
come to their door.
On our last visit to Beaumont we spotted the series of fundraising activities - we looked at each other and knew we had to pay it forward, so we decided to put our money & bodies on the line.
It is no secret of our love of Croke Park – as neither of us will ever be able to run onto the pitch for our county ..................... we did the closest thing we could to get onto the pitch ............. we registered to do the abseil Croke Park on Saturday 12th October.
If anyone would like to support however small - we have set up this page - we have old school sponsorship cards too.
If anyone wants to witness the sheer terror and smell the fear close up you are more than welcome to support us on the day - 2.45pm !
Beaumont Hospital Breast Unit: In the past decade, the number of patients diagnosed with breast cancer annually at Beaumont Hospital has grown from 89 to 400. Approximately 9000 patients are seen in our breast clinics annually putting huge pressure on hospital capacity. The need for a dedicated clinic is urgent, both to alleviate the patient volumes in the main hospital and to allow us shape and define a uniquely, patient-focused service for people with breast issues in this community. We are appealing to you to get behind this exciting project which is already over 75% funded to help ensure that women and men with breast symptoms have access to one of the best breast diagnostic and treatment centres in Ireland.
There are several ways you can support the Breast Clinic Appeal. You can make a
donation. You can take part in one of our fundraising events or you can organise
your own. Whatever you can do to help us reach our 1million target will be so
gratefully received. To get involved, see beaumontfundraising.ie
