Story
Hello,
I am running/crawling the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 25th April 2010, and have chosen to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
This is my first ever full marathon, and as much as I enjoy(?) running half marathons this is going to be a different challenge all together. I have been training very hard in all weather conditions, and as my family/friends/work colleagues know, it's not been an easy few months (thank goodness for great Physios).
My sister-in-law died from Meningitis 9 years ago, so we are fully aware how devastating this disease is.
Please help me reach my target, its not a great deal but it will make a difference and it would be great if I didn't go through lots of pain for nothing!!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
The money will go towards:
Funding research into new methods of prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.
Support those affected by the disease through the MRF helpline, befriending scheme and membership.
Raise awareness of the disease through a range of resources for the public and health professionals.
Your donation could help to pay for:
£1 - 100 Symptoms Cards
£5 - 1 school or university information pack
£10 - 1 hour of in-depth support
£25 - 1 hour of a typical research project
£100 - 20 information packs for GP surgeries and health professionals
£250 - funding for our 24 hour helpline for half a day
Many thanks
Elaine
