Story

Hi friends

As you may know, we have recently lost our beloved father, Ely. He suffered and struggled with atrial fibrillation for over five decades.

There were limited medication and treatment to help him control this condition and the only medicine he felt worked well was amiodarone.

It is believed that the extended use of this medicine contributed heavily to his having developed fibrosis in the lungs and cirrhosis in the liver. These two conditions, especially the cirrhosis, quickly led to his tragic loss in October 2021.

If there was a larger choice of medicines, or other non-invasive treatments, that were reliable and safe to use in the long term, his life could have been extended.

Our father was healthy in all other respects. He ate well, didn't drink, didn't smoke, looked after himself. We will miss him dreadfully.

We are raising money to donate to the Atrial Fibrillation Association, to help with research and development of treatments. Perhaps with time other lives can be extended with better, more reliable medicines that cause little or no side effects.

Thank you for your donations, which are much appreciated.
