This is the second run Sarah and I will be completing together - and the longest, so wish us luck!! We are very much looking forward to crossing the finish line dressed as bumblebee's, and enjoying a glass or two of Denbies finest!
There are so many charities that do brilliant work for many people, but Sarah and I have decided to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity at this event for personal reasons.
We were both lucky enough to send our children to a lovely pre-school in Cheam called Jellybeans, and it was there that we met Babette and her mum Kirsty.
Unfortunately in February of 2011, Babette was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. She is now having to endure two years of chemotherapy, and has already had numerous operations and intensive chemotherapy which has resulted in many stays in hospital. So far Babette is responding well to treatment, but has good days and bad days. Please see more of Babette's story and progress at www.justgiving.com/kirstyprescott.
The Royal Marsden is an amazing hospital which is giving Babette the best treatment currently available, as well as providing support for her whole family. It's reputation is recognised worldwide.
Sadly many children still die from cancer each year, and there is still much work to be done. Please help us raise as much money as possible for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and help fund more research into childhood cancers.
As a parent you hope and pray that you will never have to see your children go through the pain and suffering associated with a cancer diagnosis. We are so very lucky to have this brilliant hospital available to us should we ever needs it's services, and every penny we can raise will be greatly recieved.
