The day I qualified as a midwife, I knew that I could work anywhere in the world and I could make a difference. That was in 2008 and now … 14 years later my career dream has come true. 

In October 2022, I am going to Lira, Northern Uganda for 2 weeks with Poole Africa link. I am going with a small team of healthcare professionals to teach clinical staff, including midwives and students. We will be sharing practice, education, awareness and providing equipment, it will make a difference to those that really need it. 

The Poole Africa link charity was set up in 2009 and was initially formed with Wau Hospital in South Sudan. Due to political unrest the charity scoped and found a link with Lira in Northern Uganda and their 500 bedded hospital and university. Fund raising continues this vital work and in the past has provided essential PPE, equipment, emergency equipment, oxygen and so much more.
