We are celebrating 25 YEARS of support to Northamptonshire's autistic community.
Story
Thanks for taking
the time to visit my sponsorship page for the Cardiff Half Marathon (my first
one!) which I am taking part in on 18th October.
I am running for
an amazing charity called Autism Concern who support and help people affected
by all forms of autism gain independence and control of their lives.
Their main objectives are to provide specialised
services in information guidance and support, together with services to
facilitate, empower and promote choice, and independence. Ultimately giving the
autistic community the opportunity to lead healthy, fulfilling and inclusive
lives.
The reason that
this charity is so special is that they have been a great support for my cousin
Alex as well as his parents, Jacqui and John.
Alex, who has just turned 8, was diagnosed as autistic when he was 2
years old and amongst the support systems placed around him, Autism Concern
really did make a massive difference.
Autism Concern has
actually gone through a very tough time and is in threat of its support and
services being reduced due to a severe lack of funds. In order to help them continue their hugely
valuable and essential work I have decided to support them by running the
Cardiff Half Marathon in October.
This is my first
half marathon so it will definitely be a challenge but I am looking forward to
raising a lot of money to help such a vital support link like Autism Concern.
