We fund life changing research to change the future of spinal cord injury

Story

Hi all, i ran the marathon yesterday! Well I ran a half marathon really well, then hobbled another half marathon. Sooo anyway it was not quite the time I hoped for but I got there in the end and your sponsorship really made it worthwhile.  Thank you so much.

Please keep sponsoring me.  Spinal Research needs every penny you can give and will use it for a fantastic cause.  Thank you X

Thanks again to veryone who has made a donation, you have all been really kind.  I ran the Silverstone half marathon on sunday as part of my training in 1 hr 54 mins, so I'm pleased with that and hope that it bodes well for a good run in April xxx

THANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SPONSORED ME SO FAR! I really appreciate all your generosity X xx

I am running the 2010 Virgin London Marathon for Spinal Research, a charity that raises money to fund vital research into treatments that will one day reverse paralysis.  Every 8 hours, someone in the UK is told that they will never walk again as a result of breaking their neck or back.  SR is working towards the day that NO spinal injury means a lifetime in a wheelchair.

I am lucky enough to ride and compete horses and am disappointed if I can’t go out jumping for one weekend.  I can only imagine how it must feel to be told that you could never ride again.  On top of this not being able to cook for yourself, stretch your legs, hug someone and all the other things that we do without thinking.  The complications of paralysis do not end here, to find out more visit their website which you can find by typing spinal research into google.

It isn’t just riders – it can happen to anyone, from sporting accidents, to traffic accidents to a simple ‘freak’ slip-up.  A family friend was paralysed in a riding accident and in his ward there was a young man who had broken his neck standing up and hitting his head on a cupboard… that is why I’m temporarily changing my riding boots for my running shoes to try and raise as much as I can.

Please sponsor me to run the marathon – I am very privileged to be able to!!

Many thanks, Emily Hart.
