Story
This year i needed the help of one of the most state of the art units the QE2 hospital has to offer, the Vicki Adkins Breast Unit. They helped diagnosed my problem within days (luckily it wasnt serious) and with in two weeks of asking for my lump to be removed it was gone! No pain and home by 1pm!
The staff where all amazing and treated me with the greatest respect. Every member of staff that i spoke to was able to give me the answers i wanted straight away and reassure me of what was coming next!
The plans at the unit are to get all the facilities for the rapid diagnoses of breast problems which will include a mammography suite, counselling rooms, an information and support area for patients and their families also all of the specialists of a breast care team. Including a Lymphoedema Nurse. Their aim is to see all patients within two working days from their visit from the family doctor and have diagnoses within 24 hours. It will provide the opportunity to discuss and plan treatment in a calm, efficient and optimistic environment.
So to say thank you to this amazing Unit im walking over 14 bridges of London (11 miles) with other patients from the unit on the 4th October. Our aim is to raise vital funds which will help towards extending the work they do and help fund the latest technology which is vitalital in our battle to fight cancer!
So please dig deep and donate now.
