Story
A team of staff from Enterprise Rent a Car are running the The Great Scottish Run in September 2010 and we are aiming to raise £10,000 for CHAS (Childrens Hospice Association Scotland).
Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is a Scottish charity established to provide hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. The hospice's offers professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family usually from the day of acceptance, to the death of their child, and beyond.Rachel House in Kinross, Scotland’s first children’s hospice, opened in March 1996. Robin House in Balloch opened in August 2005. Both hospices are purpose-built and each can provide ongoing support for up to 200 families across Scotland each year. The CHAS at Home Team offers support to families across Scotland by providing a home care service to families in their own homes when they need it.
A few weeks ago some of us went to visit Rachel House in Kinross to see the work that they do there. Despite any pre-conceived notions of what a hospice would be like, we found that Rachel house was a lovely, bright and happy place where families who have a child/children who suffer from life limiting conditions can go to have fun, relax and give mum and dad a break from the constant care of an ill child.
Visitng the hospice and seeing the amazing work that they do has given us even more motivation to hit our target of £10,000. We've started training for the run and are hoping to organise some other events to raise money.
