My Story

As some of you will know, I've been into 'short distance' running for a few years now (before that I was out of breath in one minute of running!).  By short distance I mean one 5km a year max (usually Race for Life!).  Last year I pushed myself out of the comfort zone and into my first 10k in Sept 09.  It was hard work but I knew I could do it again, and probably do better.  So this year I wasted no time in entering the same 10k, plus another one!  So on July 18th I am running the Race for Life 10k in Clumber Park and on 5 Sept I am running the BUPA Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield City Centre.

I am very proud of myself for having kept up training through winter, in fact the snowy days were the best!  I have also been very lucky to have had lots of support throughout my training and my Nike Plus Wristband was one of the best birthday pressies!

This year I am raising money for Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield which is 1 of only 3 dedicated cancer hospitals in the UK and a world leader in cancer research.  The sad fact is, cancer will affect 1 of 3 us in our lifetime and that is why I see this charity as such a worthy cause.  Knowing I am raising money to make a difference to the lives of those people who are affected or who could be affected, will make all the hard work worth it.  So please consider whether you could spare just a few pounds (which is what..the price of a coffee, a bottle of wine, a magazine etc etc.) to help support this amazing cause, which one day, you or a friend or a family member, may desperately need and value.
