Story
Hiya
I have set this page up as some of you may want to purchase a little something for Ethan for Christmas. He does have EVERYTHING he needs so really doesn't need anything but a new heart.
We are therefore asking if you could please instead donate (no pressure) to the Play Team at GOSH. Below is further information about this. They have been vital in Ethan's development in encouraging him to sit up, play and interact as so he should for a normal 8 month old baby, regardless of everything he has been through.
Play is an essential part of a childhood, even when you're ill. The Play Team at GOSH ensure that children have access to fun and engaging activities that are appropriate for their age and stage of development. They aim to reduce stress and worry around treatment, as well as advising on play activities that may support a child's recovery.
Play workers can help children prepare for procedures such as surgery, divert their attention from invasive procedures, and provide support before, during and after treatment. They may use play to investigate a child's preference and worries, and to work on ways of dealing with treatment or understanding what will happen to them. Play specialists are also skilled in working with children with sensory deficits and autistic spectrum disorder, and can help to guide the clinical team in the best way to approach invasive procedures for these children.
Thank you & have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
xxxxx
