Ben Rowntree sadly took his own life in 2017 after battling mental health issues. Ben was a much loved member of the community and had many friends in the Wakefield area. Ey Up Ben is a fundraising charity group that supports EyUp Charity and local mental health activities in memory of Ben. The charity provides support to people suffering from mental and/or chronic physical illness, across all age groups in Yorkshire.

Last year Ey Up Ben raised £11,130 by completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. This money is being used to to provide professional support and wellbeing activities to local people in Ben’s memory.

This year Ey Up Ben will be a 20 strong group of Ben’s team mates from Kettlethorpe Rugby League team who will complete the Wakefield Wheel in fancy dress on 22 June 2019. Our aim is to complete the challenge in under 4 hours using mountain bikes carrying 14 stone in weight between them to signify carrying the weight of Ben’s burdens.
