Story
From 2nd October to 9th October 2010, a team of 10 volunteers from Financial Risk Management will be travelling to Mozambique to work with Habitat for Humanity in building housing for families and caregivers of orphans and vulnerable children.
Currently 38% of the population of Mozambique live on less than one US dollar a day and the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate is 16.2%. Out of the country's 1.6 million orphans, more than 500,000 have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. More than half of the population of Mozambique live in dangerous or non-permanent housing.
Since its inception in 2000, Habitat for Humanity-Mozambique has built over 1000 family houses. Currently, all of the houses built in Mozambique are given with a 100% subsidy and are designed to reach the families with the most orphans and vulnerable children in any given village.
Your donation will help Habitat for Humanity continue these efforts to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in Mozambique.
Thank you.
