Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Fee Adamson & Fiona Williams JustGiving page.
Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that strikes little girls around their first birthday. It affects their most basic abilities like walking, talking, eating and breathing. Research shows that girls with Rett do not have brain damage, they understand much more than their bodies allow them to show - but they are locked in, trapped by a body that cannot obey signals from their brain.
While there is currently no cure for Rett Syndrome, lab research has shown that the condition can be reversed in mice. This means that there is hope for many families - but for treatment or a cure to become a reality, researchers need funding. Reverse Rett's priorities are to fund research and facilitate treatment within the UK medical community for Rett Syndrome and related MECP2 disorders.
If you would like to find out more about Rett Syndrome you can follow the blog rettisa4letterword.wordpress.com
We are running to raise money in the hope that research will one day provide a cure for children like my friend's daughter Romi.
