Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Pre-eclampsia affects 1 or 2 in 100 pregnancies. Pre-eclampsia is the most common of the serious complications of pregnancy. It is caused by a defect in the placenta which joins the mother and baby and supplies the baby with nutrients and oxygen from the mother's blood.
HELLP is the medical term for one of the most seroius complications of Pre-eclampsia, in which there is a combined liver and blood clotting disorder. This can and does lead to tragic outcomes for mother and baby.
Cameron and I were both severely affected by pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome and I feel very lucky that I have him and he has me. The Community Midwives and Hospital staff were fantastic, but much work is needed to increase general awareness of these life threatening conditions. Please please help me to raise vital funds to improve treatment, promote early detection and increase awareness of this terrible condition.
