Story
Dear All,
I am so, so sorry to keep doing this....I am back with a vengeance, pestering you all for your hard earned cash, all in the name of St John Ambulance.
I am clearly having a bit of an 'early' life crisis i.e. as I reach the big '3-0' (in serious denial) and thought I would set myself a new challenge.....And this time, I thought I do a slightly longer road race....i.e. the Virgin London Marathon on 25th April 2010.
So, I am lucky enough to have bagged myself a charity place with St John Ambulance and training has begun!
For those of you not 'in the know', St John Ambulance largely provides volunteers, trained in first aid, to ensure that public events are safe, one such event being the London Marathon each year. St John Ambulance is also the leading first aid training provider in the UK and the third largest youth organisation, supporting a number of community projects and youth orientated initiatives.
St John Ambulance also provides a response to hundreds of local incidents and major accidents each year and plays a crucial role in supporting the emergency services when help is needed, recent events include the July 2007 floods and the London bombings in 2005.
Their volunteers are fully-trained and always on hand to offer assistance and support to those in need. They respond quickly, providing vital help when major emergencies, road accidents, weather incidents and fires occur. Whatever happens, from setting up an evacuation centre to attending a major accident, St John Ambulance is always ready to respond.
So please, please, please donate what you can to support this worthwhile charity. I'll even beg.....and if you are fortunate enough to be a 'friend' on facebook there may even be regular updates on my training progress including events I am entering to top up my training and details of other fundraising I am doing in order to achieve my target.
