Story

Anyone who has a child hopes for them to be in perfect health through their whole life. It's probably the single most important thing you can think of as your children grow up. Great Ormond Street Hospital care for those children who are less fortunate than most. Those who need day care, constant care and those who simply don't make it. Can you think of a more worthy cause to donate a few pounds to, I'm willing to bet you'd struggle?

A couple of months back Jim and I were talking about setting a challenge for ourselves and decided that a cause close to our hearts would be Great Ormond Street. So that was that, we had the people we wanted to benefit, how were we going to raise the money?

Jim being a confirmed petrolhead and me with my links to the Nurburgring it was bound to be something motorsport related. But what?

Probably our two favourite circuits in the world are Spa in Belgium and the Nurburgring across the border in Germany. A lap of each and a tab in the middle hmmmm.

A little more time and effort - it was a long trip back from a track day on Angelsey -  and we had the nucleous of an idea. We would attempt to lap the famous Spa circuit on foot, before carrying on across the Eifel mountains to the famous 13 mile Nurburgring that we would lap on foot too. So dependant on us finding a suitable route around 100 miles all in.

To make the challenge a little more exciting we decided to set ourselves a time limit. Three full days, around 35 miles per day. It doesn't sound like far when you say it quickly, but for a fat lazy 40 year old this is a bit of a trek. The final details have yet to be finalised, we are still working on them, but the main thing is the distance we will cover.

So from that moment forth this 40 year old has been out pounding the streets, putting mileage into his weary shin splint wrecked body.  Loads of training, loads of effort, loads of pain, but it will be worth every second if you guys and girls donate some of your hard earned.

Now comes the begging part. If you would like to support us on this epic journey it would be very much appreciated. It will take just 2 mins of your life to make a donation and that 2 mins will help to keep a child happy, treat them, or aid with research into future cures for them. Can there be a more worthy cause?

Thank you for reading this, please dig deep and press that 'Donate' button NOW.
