Well, thats it, all done. 8 of us braved the mud and rain to run from Woodhead to Hadfield.
How I wish people would listen. My nephew Gav obviously didnt hear "anyone fancy running 10K WITH me to encourage me ?", instead he must have heard something like "the person who runs fastest and gets to the pub first gets free drinks all night".
And Bob obviously didnt hear "anyone fancy RUNNING 10K with me" :)
And Tim obviously didnt hear "anyone fancy running 10K with me"
Only joking, it was great to have support for the final run, thanks to Bob, Tim, Mike, Suze, Matt, Gav and most of all John, who doesnt have a hearing impairment, and has done three of the 10Ks with me.
Thanks also to our cheerleaders for the day, Janice, Rach, Emma, Millie, Joe, Daniel, Norma, Joy and also those who couldnt be bothered cheering but still turned up for a celebratory pint ie Graham and Alison.
Overall I'd like to say my body has held up well, but todays rain soaked event brought quite a serious medical emergency. Suffice to say I now have the only manboobs without nipples, and reconstructive plastic surgery is on the agenda.
Thanks once again to everyone for their fantastic support - Im leaving the page open for a short time for final donations.

Only two things to say about today, firstly I did it, and secondly I hate Shrek.

Same route again this time accompanied by my nephew John and Domino. Only two left ! Tomorrow morning will be a challenge - I need to get the run done before meeting up in Mary Ds at 11 ready to watch the big match in there. Then Sunday will be the last one, setting off from Woodhead at 3, back at Hadfield 4.15 ish, shower and Cheiftan. Anyone notice a theme.........

Same route as yesterday. How boring is that ?

Ran the Longdendale Trail today from Hadfield to Torside and back, verified by Janice, Domino, and the app on Janices phone. Good practice for Sunday when a few of us will run full length from Woodhead to Hadfield which I think is nearer 11K.
I actually feel pretty good today. Maybe my body is getting used to it, but conscious I still have 4 to do, and dont want to speak to soon.
Boosted by someone I dont even know seeing the article in the Advertiser, and donating through the Just Giving page - brilliant. Maybe a good time to thank everyone who has supported me in this, we will exceed the £3K target, which is actually 3 times the initial target I set. Many thanks to you all, apologies if I havent yet thanked you personally.

Did the longdendale reservoirs today, verified by our Cocker Spaniel Domino whose expression as we started said "Not this again Dad".
Before we went bought some new running socks in Hyde, I'm sure the under age little boy who served me was about to ask if they were for my grandson, then bit his tongue quickly as he realised they were actually for ME.
Part way round the run I really wished I had set a more realistic target of 5 x 10K, or 10 x 5K, but its too late now. Setting realistic targets ? I'm sure that rings a bell from discussions earlier in the day......

Horrible weather again so full 10K at the gym, verified by Amanda who is unbribable.
The bottom of my feet feel like someone has been using a cheese grater on them. Actually they smell like someone has been using a cheese grater on them as well.
Janice bought me a couple of presents today - Micro Aerated Water Resistant Blister Prevention Solution, and two packs of blister plasters. Must be Valentines day coming up, who says romance is dead ?

Did the three Longdendale reservoirs today. Nice and slow cos Im aching bigstyle. Janice did a great job coming with me most of the way and letting me use an app on her phone to track the distance. She picked me up at the end, noticed I was 500 meters short and dropped me off 500 m from home. Shes all heart.
Managed a couple of minutes in a cold bath, they reckon it helps.
Was feeling quite pleased with myself until I just read about the 49 year old who has just run a marathon every day for a year. Smartalec.

Awful weather today so did 5 miles (8.046K) at the gym, verified by Dave Breed (owner) who I have bribed with a fiver to say this is true, and the other 2K at the reservoirs verified by Domino our Cocker Spaniel, bribed with a treat.
Truth be told the bottom of my feet are a bit sore, as is lower back, but knees holding up so far. Im going to ice everything for an hour, then going to City and will numb the pain (from the running not watching City) with a couple of pints of Guinness.
Update 4/2/2011
First one done and dusted. Well I clocked it on 'map my run' and it came out at 9.34K so I'm off to the gym later to do the other 700M ! Don't want anyone to say I've cheated. Was accompanied by my nephew John, who has never run that slow in his life. Actually, it wasnt all that slow maybe just over an hour.
Cant believe I actually woke up this morning with pains in my knees so Ive just had ice packs on them for an hour, see how they feel when the painkillers wear off....

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
To raise money for Destination Florida I will be running 10 x 10K runs on 10 consecutive days starting on the 4th February 2011. As you know I am overweight, over 50 and this challenge is probably over ambitious so I would very much welcome your support and encouragement to raise a good sum of money for an excellent charity. Destination Florida takes very ill children for the holiday of a lifetime, ensuring that they have a great time, and still get the specialist care they need whilst they are away from their normal environment.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
