Trans Alpine Run · 4 September 2010

SportsAid is the only national charity of its kind, proudly supporting young British sportsmen and women who aspire to be our next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and world champions.

Story

305km - that's seven and a half marathons!
13,500m of climbing - that's one and a half times the height of Everest!
Eight days on foot!

What is it? The Trans Alpine Run

Why am I doing it? Well I entered for the challenge and fun along the way - but it is a great opportunity to help others achieve their ambitions.

Who am I raising money for? The Dave Aitchinson SportsAid Fund. A charity I helped set up in 2007 in memory of Dave Aitchinson - a member of our local triathlon club and rising international star. It awards grants of up to £1,000 to up and coming athletes in London and the SE region. Since it's inception it has helped 26 individuals and doubled in size each year!

Why should you part with your hard earned money? Small grants make a really big difference. I was lucky enough to receive money in this way in my running and sailing endeavours and it really opened many opportunities both in sport and outside.
