Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you that know me will be aware that I often jump in the (very cold) North Sea for fun. However, on 19th September I'll be taking it up a notch and joining thousands of others as we plunge into the sea at Druridge Bay for the 2021 North East Skinny Dip! Now, dipping with my Wild Sea Women community in a bathing suit is one thing, doing it with thousands of strangers, NAKED, is quite another.

I'm lucky that I've never really struggled with many body confidence issues, BUT, and this is a big but, over the last 10 years my body has been through a lot. It been prodded and poked, investigated and judged, to find out why I've lost seven of our much wanted babies. I've also, thankfully, had our beautiful Ava. Anyone who's experienced pregnancy loss will tell you how easy it is to feel so let down by your body. So, I thought it was time to start celebrating my body instead of berating it. Jumping in the sea naked seemed like as good a way of doing that as any!

I'm also challenging myself to run a virtual marathon during Autumn starting on Sunday 19th September and finishing on the winter solstice, 21st December 2021. I'll finish off by jumping in the North Sea again, albeit probably not naked this time. Important to note: I'm not a runner! I think I actually walk faster than I run!

I'd appreciate it so much if you would be happy to make a donation towards a wonderful charity, CRADLE. CRADLE supports women and their partners who have experienced pregnancy loss before 24 weeks and they have made such a significant difference in my life. It costs £180 to provide a woman and her partner with 6 counselling sessions. It's vital that individuals receive this much needed emotional support in order to help them though their loss and learn to live with their new reality. This is what CRADLE did, and continues to do, for me. This is just one small way that I can give back to them.

Thank you!

If you've experienced pregnancy loss and would like support please visit CRADLE's website www.cradlecharity.org or my website www.yourenotalone.co.uk. My latest blog, Massive (anxiety) Attack, discusses pregnancy loss related anxiety and the impact it has on daily life.
