My husband and I love to walk along the South Downs. Before our baby Jasper arrived, we spent some very special weekends walking along the coastline together, breathing in the sea air and imagining what our future might bring. We had no idea then just how amazing it was going to be; that our incredible little warrior baby was about change our lives & our outlook for the better, forever.
Within hours of his arrival our beautiful baby boy suffered a collapse and we were told he had suffered a massive intraventricular bleed in his brain and that he was fighting for his life
By the age of 8 months he had undergone no fewer than 13 surgeries at Great Ormond Street, his first being on the day after his birth. During those very stormy early months, Jasper's fighting spirit helped us to find ours. He continues to amaze us every day. He faces the challenges of hydrocephalus and hemiplegic cerebral palsy. But despite it all, he is the happiest little guy and an absolute delight; our ray of sunshine. In June, he will celebrate his 1st Birthday. What better way to mark the occasion than a challenge & to give something back to the incredible hospital that saved Jaspers life and continues to provide his Neurosurgical care.
So, this August Bank Holiday we will be walking 100Km of the South Downs in 24 hours to raise money for Great Ormond Street. We'll be walking through the night (& through the pain barrier!) with a troop of beloved friends and family.
We have created a GOSH fund in Jaspers name through which we can channel our support and allow people to join us on our journey.
