Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On May 16th 2010 we will be running the Bupa Manchester 10k to raise money for the Christie Organisation.

In the picture is my friend Tansy Atkinson (2nd from left) with her best friends taken on New Years Eve 2009 at Gusto, Didsbury. Even though she was terminally ill we did not even consider that she would die 41 days later.  We had a great night and drank champagne until the early hours of the morning. Tansy was such a party girl and we are missing her terribly.

Christies did so much for Tansy we decided to run the race in memory of her and raise as much money as possible.

So about us :

Jan at 45 has never run before and it is going to be difficult for her. She would be the first to admit that her knees are on the wrong legs but she is trying so hard in training, and I have every confidence she will complete the race.

As for me Geoff, 51, it is going to be tough for me too.  I know some of you out there will think it will be a doddle for me having already run 2 marathons, but I have not run for 15 years and had a hip replacement 5 years ago - if my surgeon knew I was doing this he would probably shoot me! I am finding the training really hard but the hip is fine, and when it hurts I think of Tansy to help me along, and I don't mind saying it brings a tears to my eyes.

I know that times are hard for everybody at the moment but we would really appreciate any little amount you could donate.

Many thanks

Geoff & Jan
