Many thanks for looking at our first ever Just Giving Page.

As it's our first we thought that we'd make it for something special, or indeed several special events.

At 2nd Croydon (1st Crystal Palace) Scout Group we're committed to making a real difference to the young people of Crystal Palace, Upper Norwood and the surrounding areas. We do this by providing exciting, challenging and FUN programmes for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. We've been doing so for over 101 years, being as we're one of the oldest Scout Groups in the world.

Because we believe in leading by example several of our Leadership team have recently re-lived their youths by hiking and abseiling.

Our Chairman, George, realised a long held ambition and walked the entire Pennine Way, 272 miles and 40,000 feet of ascent in 11 days, 8 hours and 24 minutes, not that he's competetive or anything.

Our Group Scout Leader, John, Cub & Beaver Leader, Liam, Group Chaplain, Bev and 3 parents all risked life and limb by abseiling the 90 feet high church tower at St Johns Church.

In addition to raising money to buy new equipment and adventurous activities for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, we wanted to show the youngsters just what is possible if you put your mind to it. Therefore expect to see our young people Hiking and Abseiling for years to come.

We think that our new Chief Scout, Bear Grylls would be proud of them.
