Event: René and Matilda’s big haircut

Story

On 5/8/20 René and Matilda are going to have a total of 28” (71cm) - René 16”, Matilda 12” -cut off their hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust who make real hair wigs for children and young adults during cancer treatments or severe hair loss. This is René’s 2nd hair donation. She donated her 1st lot age 3yrs. While doing this they are hoping to raise money for the Emma Cameron Foundation an amazing charity set up in memory of our beautiful and inspirational friend Emma who died age 11. The Emma Cameron Foundation, amongst other things, donate money to the Little Princess Trust to help the wigs get made, styled and stored. Every penny the girls raise will be used in that way. I have written a bit below explaining what else the charity does. Thank you so much for reading/donating

The Emma Cameron Foundation is a charity set up in memory of our beautiful and inspirational friend Emma who died of osteosarcoma age 11years. The foundation supports numerous organisations that helped Emma throughout her illness.

As well as supporting The Little Princess Trust , the Emma Cameron Foundation established the much needed Sleep Tight Sitting Service. Sleep tight is designed to support children with cancer and their families at the end of life to allow them to stay at home. This is a much needed, and sadly, much used service. Nurses are provided to be in the child’s home and look after them overnight while their family are able to have some essential sleep or rest.

The foundation also provides tutoring support to children who have missed a lot of school due to their diagnosis. They also provide toys to the ward, tickets to attend concerts and any other things that could help the children during their recovery. Recently they provided an exercise bike to a little boy who is shielding. This will help aid his recovery by getting him some exercise while staying indoors.

The Emma Cameron Foundation states “ A cancer diagnosis is devastating for the child and their family. Many things can be done to improve the quality of life of these children and we have seen at first hand what can bring a smile to an ill child, what can make going to school easier and what can make life easier for the whole family.”
