                                                                       ABF The Soldiers' Charity

The Challenge

In June 2010 Hugh, Nick, James and Charles will be competing in the Gobi March - a gruelling, 155 mile, six day race through one of the most inhospitable places on the planet, and described by the Sunday Times as “one of the four toughest endurance races in the world”.

The Location

The ultra-marathon is set in the Gobi Desert of China, and is traditionally staged in locations along the ancient . This year however, the event is returning to the - the hottest place in , and the second lowest place on Earth, and thus aptly nicknamed “The Oven”.

The Climate

In temperatures of over 40°C competitors will be racing, on average, 25 miles per day, over rocky terrain, sand dunes and long expanses of flat desert, while carrying 10-15kg of food, clothing and medical equipment on their backs.

The Charity

Indeed a tough challenge, and one that will not only push us to our physical and mental limits, but also raise awareness and money for our chosen charity. For more information on the March please visit - www.4deserts.com/gobimarch/.

The Soldiers’ Charity provides support to soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need. With so many lives currently being affected by conflict overseas, it is crucial that charities such as this are in a position to help. Your donations will provide vital financial help for those heartbroken families who have lost loved ones and the hundreds of soldiers injured whilst serving with the armed forces.
