Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having tried to keep myself reasonably fit with a good diet I was shocked to suffer a heart attack on 20/04/2012. It transpired that suffer from the previously undiagnosed Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) or hereditary high cholesterol. I had a stent put in and over a period of time recovered.
My recovery was assisted by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. The staff there were great encouraging patients to assist themselves through exercise. It sounds simple but after such an event you doubt that it is wise or even safe to push yourself. Being around other patients is also of great help as we encourage each other and this helps to rebuild your self confidence.
Like a lot of people I can not tolerate statins which are used to lower cholesterol. The side effects were often debilitating and eventually I simply had to stop taking them. Exercise and diet I am advised are amongst the best ways of lowering cholesterol and so it seems appropriate to take on the 2 day 50 mile march while raising funds. Money raised will be made available for the cardiac rehab unit at PRH.
