===========================

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A couple of years ago I decided that I wanted to set myself a (physical) lifetime challenge. As I've always had a love of hills and also enjoy going to France, especially the Pyrenees, I decided the challenge would be to walk the length of the GR10 footpath on the northern side of the Pyrenees, some 550 miles (900km) with 165,000 ft (50,000m) of climbing involved. I expect to take 50 days, starting on 13th June (any earlier and the path may still be blocked by snow at certain points).

To give me an incentive, I have chosen two charities to benefit from my challenge - Guide Dogs For The Blind and the British Heart Foundation.

Guide Dogs have become part of my life since my wife, Julie, became involved in boarding Guide Dogs in training. We have had a succession of dogs staying in our home evenings and weekends when they are not "at school". These dogs enrich our lives and go on to make a massive difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

British Heart Foundation  (see separate justgiving page gordonsgr10bhf) - because I know from experience of the vital work they do, both preventative and to help people recover from heart problems.  I had a minor scare three years ago (don't worry - it proved that my heart is very healthy) and I now fully appreciate the benefits of a healthy heart.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep as you are able to and donate now.

Also add thanks to Beverley and Richard and Lostock AC for donations which will be added to the total.
