The Derby county community trust have been doing their volunteer trip since 2012 helping many schools in the slums of Kenya by providing building renovations or classroom lessons for children. 

I am fortunate enough to be heading out on my fourth volunteer trip to Nairobi, Kenya. I will be returning back to The Jubilee Academy, to continue working on the construction of classrooms we started last year. We started by digging two foot trenches as the foundations for another block of classrooms and managed to complete all of the flooring as well as starting to build up the walls. In 2024, the other volunteers and I will work to complete the classroom walls and find funding for the roofing.

This trip is very close to my heart. It brings me a lot of joy to see the school children each year. It is so rewarding to see all the hard work make such a difference to these children's lives. The best part is the small bonds I have been able to make.  Being able to help support their education, and watch them grow up, makes this some of the most fulfilling work I have ever done. Those familiar faces are what draw me back every year.

I cannot recommend this trip enough, as I know you would fall in love with the people and satisfying work as much as I have. There are no words to describe the rollercoaster of emotions you go through, and every single one of them is worth it. If you cant make it there in person, donations go a long way in  supporting the volunteers and providing the resources we need to help make a difference.
