Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year I was convinced it would be a good idea to enter into the National Three Peaks Challenge (taking on Ben Nevis, Snowdon & Scafell in 24 hours)! In order to "train up" for the event, a group of us have also entered into The Whole Hog Challenge on 5 May near Oxford and later on 20 May running the Manchester 10k. So more pre-training trainig is needed!

Rather than approach you for three different events, I have listed them below to show you what I will be doing. However, I am appealing for one donation as Marie Curie will ultimately be the beneficiary for all three events.

The Whole Hog: Scramble through mud and test your endurance in an "unforgettable" challenge.

The Manchester 10k - I'm hoping to get round in 50 minutes.

50 HSBC employees are climbing the National Three Peaks on 16/17 June starting with Ben Nevis and reach the sumit of Snowdon within 24 hours. We are being looked after by Action Challenge to ensure we survive the experience intact. All monies will be going to Marie Curie (www.mariecurie.org.uk) a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal cancer and other illnesses. Over the financial year 2010/11, they reached a total of 31,799 patients. All the money I raise will go to the charity as I am personally standing all the costs of the three challenges above.

The target by the team is to "buy" nursing hours which cost about £20 per hour. The more we raise, the more time Marie Curie's nurses can spend with their patients. As an additional incentive, HSBC will be matching £ for £ the first £500 each team member raises.

I have set up a Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/Greg-Caiger1 where it would be great if you can make a donation. I know that times are hard but would ask your support for this very worthwhile cause - the training has been gruelling so far and I have now to step up the pace a lot 'twixt now and June!

Thank you in anticipation!

Greg
