Story

Friday 13th April: There's an update on our  'blog' here!

We are "Grumbler's Stumblers", four friends and colleagues who have banded together to raise money for Oxfam by completing the Trailtrekker challenge.  In short, this will see us walking 60 Miles (that's 100km in French) in less than 30 hours. If you'd like to see more about Traltrekker, then visit the main site.

See our 'blog' here!

By way of introduction, these four handsome fellows are, from left to right:

Martin Bocutt: Martin is described in the facebook page maintained by his family's cat, Nutmeg, as the Old Git.  The rest of us don't consider him to be Old. Since he is taller than Nelson's column, he will be the first of us to know if it starts raining, and we plan to use hinm as a wind-break.  He plans to train by eating a lot of chips.

Martin Reid: Born a Yorkshireman (but now a shandy-drinking southerner), the team are relying on his expert knowledge to guide them around the course.  Unfortunately, that's 40 years out of date and unless they push him around in a pram he thinks it'll all look very different now. Suspecting that this may be a ruse to get a ride round the course, the rest of us have bought a map.

Paul Snelling: AKA The Grumbler. No one knows why this ever cheerful fellow is called The Grumbler, but many suspect a tang of irony. As the heaviest member of the team, he will be required to lead for much of the time, purely to flatten as many obstacles as possible. If this all goes wrong, the stumblers are likely to claim he bullied them into it.  Imagine!

Lancy Silveira:  Lancy is the fittest member of the team, and is believed by the others to run a marathon before breakfast every day.  Lancy's idea of a challenge is to climb Kilimanjaro, where us the rest of us would get better odds for attempting to eat it.
