Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Last year, my local Regiment - The Mercians returned from a Tour in Afganistan. Their return made the local news and in the same story mention was made of forthcoming ceremonial marches through local towns. Of course I couldnt find any details of these marches and when they were planned, presumably as they werent actively broadcast, for political reasons.
Therefore, because of our busy lives i missed my chance to support them.

Support or otherwise for any conflict in my opinion us irrelevant. The boys and girls sent out there to sort it out dont get any choice so lets help them out.

I saw the opportunity to do my little bit to assist all these very brave men and women overseas and asked around at Eastnor to see if anyone else shared my passion to be involved in the rally. Alfie - being ex TA and a good old egg naturally showed interest and we gratefully recieved a slot on the rally last week.

Would be very grateful for any support you can give Alfie and I to support this noble cause.

I am Neill Bates ( Alfie ) the other half of the team. As JP stated above I served in the TA for 13 years (The Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (M). My son David is in the REME and served in Iraq in 2006. My sister Penny works for the Defence Medical Welfare Service and did a tour of Afgahnistan last year based at Camp Bastion. Penny also did a tour of Iraq in 2003 in the QARNNS. So I am very aware of the good work that H4H does with our Service Men and Women. ( My sister frequently tells me I should be doing more) Well this is my chance to raise some money for the cause. I am currently employed at Land Rover Experience as is Gareth (JP) as a Senior Off Road Driving Instructor. JP and myself have been allocated car No 3 on the rally so we should be nicely placed if anybody get too far off piste and needs the services of a recovery winch !!!

Well thats all for now, and please give generously.

Thanks

Neill (Alf)
