Story

Hello, my name's Harry Ford and in September 2010 I will embark on a challenge of a life time and climb Mount Kilimanjaro in . For some time now I have been thinking about doing this, and I decided to stop dancing around the idea and go ahead and book it!

I am going as part of an organised trip, with a group of 16. Not knowing the rest of my group just adds another element of excitement for the trek ahead.

is the world’s highest free standing mountain at a huge 19,341ft. Climbing this poses many challenges, including tough and extreme weather conditions. Over the next few months I will be training, so if you see me out and about with a large bag on my back, give me a wave!

I have made the decision to fund this trip totally myself. I have done this because I didn't want your sponsorship to pay for my adventure. I am however raising money separately for a fantastic charity called Building Schools for . This is a small charity based in the that raises money to build/ replace schools, and supply clean sanitised water to hundreds of children all over . All the money you donate through this site goes directly to building new classrooms. The volunteers who run this charity fund their trips to out of their own pocket so your money really will make a difference to the lives of young children.

I have given myself a target to raise of £1500. This significant amount can provide clean water supplies for three schools or build a substantial amount of a classroom.

I will keep you updated with my progress and hopefully set up a blog soon! I also hope to make a video diary of my adventure so that you can all see the fun/pain/excitement and tears as I venture through the thick forest into -16 weather conditions!
