Story

Hey, Welcome to my JustGiving page

We done it!!!  58 minutes!!! Its not to late to donate!!

All of you that know Hayden and I  know why i done this run.  Hayden is 9 years old, he was born with an unbalanced translocation between Chromosomes 4 and 10. For him this means a life with global learning difficulties, Emotional and behavioural difficulties, Hypermobility, Congenital Hypotonia, Pectus Excavatum, wearing glasses, chronic constipation, eczema, recurring dislocation of knees and now hes left elbow and walking difficulties. It also affects hes senses, appearance, growth, weight gain and hes confidence.

This may not mean alot to you but to my son, myself and our family it has ment 9 years of ups and downs and living with limited knowledge of the condition.

Hayden has just had reconstructive surgery on hes left elbow, since feburary this year hes elbow had dislocated seven times.

The affects are endless.

Genetic disorders are caused by an alteration in DNA. This may mean that either a gene or several genes are missing, repeated or in the wrong order. Altered genes can affect a child's senses, movement, ability to learn or appearance. The most serious conditions can prove fatal in early years of life. Individually genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK - that's more than 30,000 babies each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest killer of children aged 14 years and under

The money you raise helps Jeans for Genes to fund the care and support children need now, and the research that could change their lives in the future
