My story

There are many children in the UK today suffering from rare or complicated medical conditions requiring dedicated care from specialist medical staff. Luckily such care is available at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Not only is GOSH the leading children’s hospital in the UK, it is also one of the top research hospitals in the world. It may therefore surprise you to know that GOSH relies almost entirely on charitable donations to fund its cutting edge research programmes. It’s easy to dismiss a charity such as GOSH on the basis that it doesn’t need any more help – it’s an NHS hospital after all and therefore funded by the government – not so. Or, you don’t need to go there so why worry. Well, there may come a time when you or a member of your family or a close friend may need medical care or treatment. Even if that treatment is not carried out at GOSH you can guarantee that the research and development leading to that treatment started there. Good health is priceless and every child deserves the chance to live a healthy and pain free life. That’s why this year the boat club have decided to support GOSH because every donation makes a difference to us all.

I have firsthand experience of all this. My sister Abby has been under the care of GOSH for many years and has recently spent some time as an inpatient. The doctors, nurses and support staff are wonderful. Please help us to make a difference. Check out our website and make your donation today. Thank you.
