Story

Hello! My name is Heidi and I want to spread a little cheer while supporting the Homeless World Cup.

If you make a donation I will send you an postcard print of one of my illustrations, your choice (either Aziraphale or Villanelle!) in the post to brighten your day, I’m also happy to send it someone else on your behalf so you can spread the joy!!!!

I am just your average everyday person, but I throughly believe in spreading kindness and joy at every opportunity

I’ve been through some tough times over the last few years; my Dad passed away and at the same time I was being bullied in my work place, I found it hard to cope and considered suicide. Thankfully I got through that but when my youngest child was born 3 years ago I suffered from severe postnatal depression and found myself in the same position of wanting to end it all BUT despite all this I still consider myself to be a very fortunate individual; why?, because even through the bad times I have always had a roof over my head.

I’ve never had to worry about where I’m going to sleep,  and if I’m going to be safe and especially never feeling isolated or alone.

It’s only very recently that I even heard of this amazing charity and the work that they are doing to bring individuals together into a community.

“Homelessness can force people into isolation, which affects their ability to share, communicate their thoughts, and work with others.

When a homeless person gets involved in football, they build relationships; they become teammates who learn to trust and share. They have a responsibility to attend training sessions and games, to be on time, and to be prepared to participate. They feel that they are part of something larger than themselves”

please donate to help this worthy cause and spread a little kindness and joy.

For complete transparency I will be producing the postcards and paying for the postage so please be kind and give what you can :)

The Homeless World Cup Foundation is a unique, pioneering charity which uses football to inspire homeless people to change their own lives. We support grassroots football programmes and social enterprise development through a network of more than 70 Street Football Partners. We provide a focus for—and celebration of—their year-round activity by organising and delivering an annual, world-class, international football tournament for national teams of men and women who are homeless. Since 2001, we have been committed to “changing the lives of people who are homeless through football.” Today, the work of our movement is varied and extensive - from building awareness about homelessness and raising funds for our activities, to organising our annual Homeless World Cup tournament. The Homeless World Cup Tournament is our flagship event. Delivered by the Homeless World Cup Foundation in co-ordination with a Local Organising Committee, the event brings together teams from all around the world for an inspiring week-long festival of football. Participating teams are managed by our Street Football Partners and are formed by men and women all of whom have experienced homelessness.
