I want to do something positive for lion conservation to celebrate the life of "Dark Mane" of the Avoca coalition in the northern Sabi Sands.  This lion captured the hearts of many people and will be greatly missed.

There are estimated to be only 20,000 lions left in the wild and Panthera are working to bring lion populations back to a healthier 30,000 individuals by 2030 through protecting and connecting key populations throughout their range in Africa by

• supporting the conservation of healthy lion populations in key sites
• reversing lion declines in sites with significant recovery potential
• maintain landscape connectivity and genetic diversity and integrity
